We teach Maths, Science, English and Humanities in groups of six or fewer, from a single studio room on Firstlight Field. Every session ends with written feedback your child brings home.
Groups are set by level rather than by age, so a student who needs to rebuild fractions sits with students doing the same work. Placement is decided after the trial lesson, not from a form.

Number sense, model drawing and written comprehension. We slow the pace down and rebuild the steps a student skips when they guess.
02
Paper technique, timed sections and the heuristics that carry the most marks. Marked scripts are returned with the working annotated, not just ticked.
03
The jump into algebra, lab reports and source-based history. We spend the first month on note-taking and setting out work, because that is usually what slips.
04
Subject-by-subject depth with past-paper cycles, structured essay plans and practical write-ups reviewed against the marking scheme wording.
Parents ask what actually happens in the room. This is the shape of every session, whichever level your child sits in.
A short written starter on last week's topic. The tutor reads the answers while students are still writing, which decides what gets re-taught that day.
Thirty minutes at the board on one idea only. Worked examples are built up on the board rather than handed out finished, so students copy the reasoning.
Forty minutes of graded questions in the room. Because groups cap at six, the tutor reaches every desk twice and corrects mistakes while they are still fresh.
The last ten minutes are spent recording what was covered, what to revise and the two questions set for home. Your child leaves holding that sheet.
Groups meet at the same hour each week so families can plan around them. Where a slot is full we keep a short waiting list and open a second hour when four students are waiting.

Trial lessons sit inside an existing group hour, so the slot you pick on the form is the group your child would join. We close for the two weeks between terms and post the next term's hours a fortnight before it starts.
The person who marks your child's work is the person who teaches the group. We do not rotate tutors mid-term unless a family asks for a change.
Maths & Science lanes
Teaches the Primary and Senior Maths groups plus Senior Chemistry. Keeps a running error log for each student, so recurring slips get a targeted worksheet rather than another full paper.
English & Humanities lanes
Takes comprehension, composition, History and Literature. Writes essay plans with students on the board first, then has them redraft one paragraph until the argument is visible in it.
The six questions that come up in almost every first conversation, answered the way we would answer them at the door.
Your child sits in a real group for one full 90-minute lesson, does the same starter and practice work as everyone else, and goes home with the same feedback sheet. Afterwards we tell you which lane we think fits and why — including when we think tuition is not what your child needs right now.
Placement follows the trial lesson, not the school year. We look at how the work is set out, where the method breaks down and how much re-teaching the topic needs. If a student is between lanes we start them in the lower one, because moving up mid-term is easier than catching up.
Tell us before the lesson and we send the worksheet pack and the lesson record the same evening. One missed lesson per term can be made up in another group at the same level where a seat is free. We cannot hold make-ups for unnotified absences, as the seat is kept empty for that hour.
Two questions per lesson for Primary lanes and one past-paper section for Senior lanes — roughly 20 to 40 minutes. It is deliberately short: it exists so the tutor can see whether the taught method survived the week, not to fill the evening.
Every lesson goes home with a written record of what was covered and what to revise. At the midpoint and end of each term we write a short progress note naming the topics that improved, the ones still shaky and what we will do about them next term. No grades are averaged into a score.
Yes. Worksheets, topic packs and past papers are printed here and included in the term fee, which we confirm in writing after the trial lesson. Families only buy the school's own textbooks, which we do not resell.
Send the form and we reply with the group we think fits, the seat available that week and the term fee in writing before anything is committed.
